Hey guys......I have a 8 hr layover in LA starting at 1 p.m. today. Any neat things to do or cool restaurants close to the airport?

Thanks, Jamie

There are some cool restaurants at LAX, like the one that is 10 stories high (I forgot what it is called, but its like part of a skelleton of a dome)

Nobu is the chef's name and the name of his restaurant in NY. The one in LA is called Matsuhisa and it is awesome. We go there once a week.

If you just want to grab lunch you can go over to The Ivy to see some celebs if that kind of thing floats your boat. Since it's sunday, i would highly recommend the buffet at the four seasons on Doheny. If you're there for dinner, check out Chinois on Main in Santa Monica. It's a wolfgang puck restaaurant that is really good.

oh really? they are not called Nobu too in LA? I know Nobu is the chef's name, he has restaurants in Japan, NY, Miami, LA, some countries in Europe and opening a new one in Hongkong. Nobu is the name of the restaurant in Miami and NY great place to eat, especially that yellowtail sashimi and the "perfect rice"

My .02 -- another sushi restaurant recommendation for the list. It is called Kazu Sushi, on Ventura Blvd in Studio City. It is located in a very small strip mall just west of Tujunga on the south side of the street. Since I am involved with a Japanese company, I have had the opportunity to eat sushi all over Japan in in other cities of the world in which my colleagues are based. Every one of my Japanese colleagues reacted positively to Kazu, with many of them (and I agree) saying that it is the best sushi thay have ever had, including Japan! Sushi is all about the chef's ability to pick the best fish and Kazu has a great eye for fish. If you want to stay on the west side, in Venice there is a famous sushi bar called Hama Sushi. It has been there for years and attracts a very hip crowd.
Other suggestions on how to spend 8 hours in LA would be to visit the Porsche related businesses not so far from LAX. You could easily hit Meridian, By Design, CEC, Wheel enhancement, have time left over to see the Petersen Automotive Museum on Wishire Blvd and have a great sushi meal to boot! Have fun!

Steve (offroadr),

Being a native Angelino I am very disappointed in you.

Nobu Matsuhisa has 2 restaurants in LA county. Matsuhisa on La Cienega...

and NOBU in Malibu. I guess you never come out here much!
