Interpreting results from inspection...

Well I had a local Porsche dealership do an inspection.

Most everything on the list was checked "ok".

He noted the car has only 200 ignition cycles in Range 2
Trans solid in 2nd gear
for Suspension he put down " rear sway bar links"
Both bulbs in front out
brake fluid flush - dirty

Paint on hood is 7.5-8.0 MILS thick
Paint on all other metal parts 3.0-4.5
Clear coat peeling on left front brake caliper

Anyway I'm a noob at all this so any help would be greatly appreciated.
All other items were checked ok
Its an 02 TT with 45K miles

Thanks again

So maybe the hood was dented or scratched?

Who knows, could have been stone chips which as are pretty common up front. It is more likely to have been cosmetic. With 45K miles, I'd be pretty happy with the report, if that's all they came up with.

if that range 2 thing is type two over revs that could be a problem, ask them.

Yea I talked to guy at the Porsche dealership....Park Place in Texas. I was in a hurry and can remmber a few thing he said. he said something to the effect that maybe once for a fraction of a second there were 200 ignition cycles. But he gave the car an overall clean bill of health.
But I still want to make sure

On the rear sway bar links, it could be possible he was referring to the rear toe links, which can get bent easily, lots of tow drivers like to use them as tie down points, which they most certainly are not.

the range 2 over rev looks like he just bouce off the rev limiter maybe once or twice. the iginition cycle is how long the car spent in "range 2" which I believe is above the first redline. 200 iginition cycle is like a quick bounce off the line, no worries.

a mechanical over rev would have ignition cycles in thousands. the front "could" be a respray of chips, but a better way to check for collision is to check under the car in the front for weld or new bolts, or check in the front hood for repaint under the carpet lining. a collision would require more paint than just the hood. other than that, a dent or scratch on the hood is nothing to worry about.

good luck, hope that helps.
