04 TT coupe minus one option...help

My 04 TT Coupe just arrived at my dealership last night, its beautiful ( Basalt Black ), BUT...one of the options I ordered was not installed. I requested sport seats but the standard seats were installed, I think we added and deleted so many items some confusion arose. My question is are the sport seats a major improvement or would you suggest just staying with the stock seats. I have read that the sport seats can be a little uncomfortable for larger framed people ?

I don't fit well in the sport seat so I have the stock seats. I also wanted the lumbar support option so I could optimize comfort.

The only way to decide is to sit in the standard seat and the sport seat and see which feels better.

I had to change eventually. At speed the stock seat just doesn't hold you. Although I am not large frame, the sport seat is very comfortable. The GT-3 and other stiff, large side wall seats would be the ones to avoid for a large person as a daily driver. But some big people even like those. Currently, I have gone beyond the sport with a recarro seat that is between sport and race that has slots for a removable harness, etc but still breaks at the back and has a fan, heater and lumbar support. The only other consideration I would add is if you eventually change rather than have the dealer switch it out, consider something very radical: Just change the driver seat and not both seats. Here is my reasoning. It is less expensive, your passenger doesn't need the same support, and if they are larger in size, you don't punish them. The only down sides are: (1) Driver's ed requires the same restraints (and presumably seats) for full compliance although no one has questioned my set up once, and technically once you are solo you don't even have to have another seat in the car. (2) It looks different to have different seats but in the same leather and stitching, you have to look hard. But a benefit is that you can turn your stock seat into a great office chair. And if you change again b/c you don't like it, you still only have one seat to buy and change. Who knows, you may eventually want the GT-3 seat. Just my .02

Thanks Dock, I have sat in the sport seats and remember them being a little tight in the upper back area.

I think sport seats are a must on the turbo. Must better support for spirited driving.

It depends a lot also on whether you have a long or short torso , as some notice uncomfortable " pinching " with those shoulder supports , whether they weigh 150 or 250 lbs, others have no problem. Gotta sit in them.

Thanks for your replys, I guess the dealership is altering an order on a 04 C4S to get sport seats and then swap them into my car.

I find sport seat very uncomfortable. I am 6'4" tall, and to me the sport seats shrink the entire cockpit. I definately do not fit well in sport seats. I am not saying the standard seats are anything great, because they are not, but, sport seats and me don't work well. The funny thing is, I fit really well in M3 seats and pretty much any sport seat BMW makes. Oh well

Lou
