Argh!!! I have found the perfect 996TT!
Argh!!! I have found the perfect 996TT!
But...my wife isn't totally supportive and my conscious also tells me to keep my 06 M3.
A Nissan dealership a few hours from me has a trade-in 2001 (already suspiscious by this) listed at $60K. Total out-the-door with trade-in is $10K. Not bad of a depreciation hit on the M3.
Now there's another at a local Porsche dealer. It's a 2002, CPO, carfax says 1 owner, listed at $65K. If they give me something close to what the 01 dealer could give on my M3, that would be very hard to pass up. Both cars have 26K miles, silver on black, and tip.
Since I just got the M3, my wife thinks I should just keep it (4000 miles so far). It was what I had wanted all along...which makes perfect sense to keep it. I lurk here and there on this forum, and am very grateful for all the info here. But it will probably be a very long time before I post again in a thread, as I will most likey keep my M3.
After all, my wife should get the next new car. And, how practical is it really to have two kids in car seats? I have a two year old now, and hopefully will be having another in a year or two. The M3 can handle it fine, but the 996TT may be stretching it.
I just wanted to introduce myself and share with fellow 996TT owners that one day I will have my chance!
BTW: how can you tell if a car is an X-50?

Welcome to the site, honestly you just got the M3 and it seems like it suits your daily needs better, m3 is an AWESEOME car and so much fun, i say stick with it for a bit! The turbo is a serious car, its awesome in every way but not a car i felt comfortable in to daily drive , dont know why!

I can't tell you how many times I gawked at TTs in my M3 and thought: this is silly, the car I'm in wins the performance car category in every magazine every year. Obviously I did not do a good job of convincing myself. Once you get an itch that won't go away...
It will have a sticker on the inside of the trunk lid (front) that says X50. If you feel X50 intercoolers they have protruding fins.

M3's stock, slightly modded are awesome!
BUT, if you feel strongly about what you just said, stop being lame and pull the trigger why not do it? You said you have another DD, so sounds like you are set!

Good luck! M3 or 996TT; you're in good company either way

This is what started it all. The owner of the C4 came along on our meet and drive. The best part is he brought his two sons with him, who sat in car seats. I thought, wow, I can do that too!

If you already have another DD, I would go for the TT. I tried to get my wife to sell the 330i and keep the M3, but she wouldn't do it.
It doesn't sound like you are loosing too much on the M. Just make sure you get a PPI, from a reputable shop, before you pull the trigger. Good luck

I have two daughters 2 yo and 31/2yo and went from C36 AMG to 996tt Tip(also silver black) twelve months ago.
Provide your wife has a good family car(Lexus Rx330 fits the bill here), the 996tt will be a perfect substitute.
Even though, the C36 was more practical , having 4 doors,I rarely used the rear seats.Good luck with whateveryou choose to do, M3 is an awesome car, you can't go wrong.
