Most places I've lived would result in a lost license, tons of fines, maybe even jail time if you went around racing people.

All this for only $66000
No way can I get a 2006 996 Turbo for mid 60s.
As for resale value, the 2001 996 I just sold- my customer paid $140000 new I sold it for $47000.
He got $45000 as trade value. You could have the Vette and $$$ left even if you buy new. When you do a reasale comparison.
I have also looked at other high $$$ imports resale value. The more they cost the more they loose. The exception is if you purchase a limited model like the GT3 RS. Or like my last P car the RS America, I sold it after it was 4 yrs. old. The Car is worth more today than I sold it for.
The Porsche does have a much richer inside and better snob appeal.
I like performance, there is no stock 996 Turbo that will beat the Z06.
On the other hand the Porsche is still a great car, I prefer the look of the Turbo over any car on the road except the 997 GT3 RS.
Good luck in whatever you do

As long as they have the proper training it is not a big deal.
GM has really restricted what dealers can sell and service the Z06. They must have all special tools to service car, fully certified techs. plus if they have a body shop, they must complete the training to weld aluminum or have a shop they sublet too that has a tech. that has had the proper training.
If they don't they can't order a new Z06.
here is a quick summary
Subject: Corvette Certification.
In March of last year, I sent a letter to all of you regarding the training requirements for
Corvette Certification along with the importance of this initiative. We all know the Corvette
models, with their many enhanced technologies, make it critical that dealership personnel
have the appropriate training and the necessary tools to provide effective service for our
customers.
In my March letter I advised that in order for Chevrolet dealers to qualify to receive
distribution of Corvettes, dealerships were required to complete ALL of the Corvette sales
and service training requirements on or before December 31, 2006.
GM Body Training Requirements:
GEN01 (2006 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 Collision Repair Overview) and WCA03 (Automotive
Aluminum GMA (MIG) Welding Qualification Test) are required training for Corvette
dealers or their sublet(s) to properly service the unique Z06 body structure.
* NOTE: These two courses must be completed by the same technician.

Seems like you've done a pretty good job already yourself:
1) My cars will only continue to appreciate while the Vette will go the other way.
2) I've also spent a painstaking amount of time and energy locating parts and piecing these together.
3) With my muscle cars, I can fit my kids in the back, and wife in the front
4) This Vette would be useless for anything other than goofing off.
5) I'd feel foolish even pulling into client's parking lots vs. the Porsche.
It doesn't make sense to have 2 sports cars for family operations. Thats just me.
Seems like your only arguement in favor of the vette is performance. In that case doesn't it make more sense to just mod the TT

I think the only reason anyone would consider the Z06 is for performance, but make no mistake it is not practicle. It sounds like you really want to keep the muscle cars, which is the more sound decision. I don't use the Z06 or the TT for everyday use, I have a Lexus LS430. If you are considering the aftermarket, I just installed the Evo Stage II on my TT and I am very happy. It pulls like crazy. Congradulations on a great collection of cars.
