Why does the "my car can beat your car" thing pervade EVERY discussion? Are we all 13 still and need to "be faster than everyone"? For me, driving/car ownership is all about the experience, not about who I might be able to smoke any given day. Do those of you who claim this stuff go out all day and look for people to "walk"?

Most places I've lived would result in a lost license, tons of fines, maybe even jail time if you went around racing people.

Back on topic - KEEP THE CLASSICS, they are irreplaceable.
says the guy with 2 slow cars. lol

You don't buy a z06, or a porsche turbo if you don't have an interest in having a fast car because a c6 or a regular porsche gets the job done just as well. I like to drive fast and not lose races.

That is why you buy fast cars and why many others do, that doesn't apply to all of us. I don't street race but enjoy running DEs where I don't "race" someone else. For me, it is about the driving an excellently balanced car. Fast is just one part of the design equation. Different strokes.

No Universal Truth!

I currently own an '01 TT and an '06 Z06 and have adhered to two rules in my pursuit of high performance cars over the years:
  1. Never buy a serious sports car for its investment potential. Simply because, there is none in today's cars with the exception of a few ultra rare exotics.
  2. Never buy a serious sports car for its practicality. If you can afford a supercar, you can jolly well pony up for a decent daily driver with all the niceties to please your derriere and those of your family, clients, and anyone else you need to entertain within 4 doors.
Performance comparisons between the Z06 and all its mega buck competitors are rife; heck, every other day there is a Z06 vs. some P-car discussion on this very forum. In stock form, few factory cars currently in volume production, if any, can dance with the Z06 on all its stages - the street, the drag strip, or the race track. If performance were your all encompassing criterion the uber Corvette may well be the right answer. However, the fact that you're not exactly considering relinquishing the keys to your TT for the Z06 tells me that you like the Porsche for what it is. It is a great car that demands so little of the driver yet rewards them by its unique blend of performance and refinement. You, like me in this regard, will likely miss the TT if you make the switch. You will undoubtedly get several opinions but the decision ultimately is your own.

I want to thank you all for your input and truly appreciate everyone's saged advice and counsel.

I think I've opened up a pandora's box and can't close it back up. I queried a couple of local dealers to inquire about a possible trade. In so doing, they've made a few calls and apparently found a few buyers interested in the classics.

I guess nothing ventured, nothing gained.

While I very heavily doubt anything will happen, I'm entertaining an appointment sometime in the next few days for their buyer to come out and look at my cars. Given the money I've put into these cars, I doubt they'd come close (obviously, dealer needs to make a buck) and the conclusion I've made is stick w/ what I've got... that is unless I'm given a screaming deal.

I'm not holding my breath.
