I took my 996TT out today. It has been sleeping for the winter so I have forgotten what it felt like.

Jeez, it is so freakin fast. I have never had a car that could scare me. This one does and I laugh out loud.

How do you guys with the major modded turbos use that kind of power? Honestly, I don't want my TT to be any faster!

What a rush. I really missed it

It's not only HP it's driveability................I have the evolution stage 2 ++, it might be stage 3 since I've done the exhaust. When I did the stage 2, ecu and air filter the difference was incredible. Less lag off the line and the smoothness through the gears was day and nite....... you don't need 600HP but the aftermarket programing makes the car incredible for a small investment. I am pretty sure that evolution will give you a return policy if you aren't happy.......... you will be!!!!! It's the best $3500 u can spend but realize it's the first injection of modaholic and it's very very addicting!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I agree , I have an 01 TT and did the EVo stage 3.... I was happy before with the car when it was stock, but with little effort and a small amount of $$ its an amazing difference. My only problem is that every time I get on the freeway as soon as I merge into traffic I am on the brakes
Do the ECU upgrade and you will never think twice about the results

Guys,

If you check my signature, I have the EVO ECU. I am not talking about ecu upgrades, diverter valves, and exhausts. I am talking about the 600+ hp monsters out there.

Well, ECU and exhaust gives you around 500hp. Truthfully there isn't a huge difference between 500 and 600 if you ask me. Maybe 3 to 4 tenths in the 1/4 mile at most. The point of seriously diminishing returns starts immediately after the ECU upgrade I would say LOL

Three to four tenths is hugh. Is it worth the cost? I would say that is very subjective. In your case, the answer is no and there is nothing wrong with that.

Three to four tenths is huge only if you are a drag racer. Point is that for a street driven car, most people wouldn't know the difference ... wouldn't you agree?

Hi all, I thought I'd reopen up this thread, as I'm considering Stage 2 vs Stage 4 upgrades. Do you 600+ HP folks feel that it's 'diminishing returns' after Stage 2 on the street?

I've got a buddy who has his Vette in the shop for a supercharger install, and they're claiming about 540hp. So I hate to stop at 'just' 510hp

Sincerely,
Paul

Good question....

Wondering how much faster the Stage IV is to the Stage II. Numbers are nice, however, I dont think it would be as bad as one would think.

If I make the 4/4 meet, I hope to have a few fun runs (in a complete safe/controlled environment...of course) to compare my car to a stage III or IV.

Any car with a turbo will have "diminishing returns" after an ECU upgrade as the $/hp ration simply cannot be beat. All you are changing is some lines of code and getting an extra 35-100hp (depending on the car of course). So it's hard to look at it from that perspective. At the same time though, how many cars make 600hp and are still relatively drivable.

BTW, nice vid Sharkey, that just made my day. Are you spraying the intercoolers with NOS?
