I blew it UP!!!!
Sorry to hear about this, although it just reinforces my thoughts on building a bulletproof bottom end with my current build-up. I would rather be overbuilt than underbuilt. Unfortunately I dont think this will be the last engine to expire given the very high strung nature of many engines out there today on stock internals. Kevin
I heard about your mishap yesterday Don. Im genuinely sorry. On the other hand, as you previously acknowledged, it was only a matter of time given the massive boost you were running on the OEM rods. I'm glad to hear that you were not injured. Now nothing is holding you back from the monster build you have been wanting to do. I see 1000 hp in your future. Good luck with your next project.

True Kevin,
Actually, Sam prefers the NA GT3 for track purposes. I think he thinks I am somewhat silly when I go trolling for highway races on Sat nights. I always add a gallon of race gas when I go looking for trouble.
Of course I am 44 going on 19.
After reading this post I am a bit woried about pushing my stock bottom end.

Umm car was making 680 to the ground trapped 138+ did a 140 in vegas
Car was stock guts. 700 package tunning to the wall. Car was in pump mode with 93 in the tank wasn't killing it. Cruising in and out of boast. As for the new motor I am moving in a new direction today if it works car will TRAP 185 and Change will need wheelie bars
It will have the bottom end to get that 8 sec run. We will see
I like today's motor choice

My prediction.. We will be seeing more of this coming to pass..

OK...680...that is definately too much for the stock rods. Nonetheless, I am very sorry....you have a stunning car.
Mark, I will mix 1 gallon of VP 109 w/ 2-3 gallons of 93 when I go trolling for Vettes (and I know there are several Supras and Vipers that are going to walk me when I run into them here in Houston).
For the Supra nats comming up I may go w/ a 50 50 mix.
Oh, by the way, Kevin. Sam recommended that I shift by 6500 rpms to maximize my torque band. I always shift before 6800 RPMs anyway due to my fear of blowing the motor.

That's 800+ crank HP. Well above the 700 considered "safe".
Still, this is no fun. I've blown 4 engines (all RX7 turbos) and can say from experience it totally SUCKS! Sorry to hear it.
Hopefully you can afford to buy your way out of it. I know I had a ***** of a time as a college student.

he has a boost controller... its better to trade 40 HP for some blown head gaskets... just my opinion...
I would never run 1.5 bars on pump...
