i think high polished lips look classier and in my opinion make the rim look of a higher quality
also, chrome chips, pits, and its heavy

Go with a polished lip. As noted, chrome chips and pits whereas a polished lip can be fixed at home with sandpaper and aluminum polish. Trust me on that. If I had chrome lips, it would have cost ~$250 to refinish. Polished wheels are a little harder to mantain but, the trade off is well worth it imho.

Isn't there like a clearbra type of thing that you can now get on your lip to protect it from chipping ?? Its like extra cost from the dealer for each wheel or something. Would this protective film drasticly decrease the chipping susceptability of the chrome lips ?

From the pics I've seen, they seem to be by far the best looking, but then I can't understand why most people don't opt for them. Is chipping the biggest issue ?

If these are chrome lips they are by far the best looking lips I've ever seen:

Definately a polished lip. It looks better. They are more work, but worth it. Plus minor damage can be polished out.

those pics are not chrome lips, they are polished
chrome has a mirror affect
and i THINK , atleast to my eyes, it adds an unnatural blueish tint to the lip
stick with a high polish lip
