I think my BMC (which is a better filter than the K&N...lasts a liketime) gives about 6-7 legit hp to the wheels.

And no blown MAF.

I don't think there are any documented gains of a cotton filter vs. stock. The stock paper filter is excellent with lots of surface area.

I made the swith from the V-flow to the stock w/K&N 1 year ago.
I notice absolutely no power loss on my 640GT. I blew 4 MAF's in less
than 3 months when I had the V-flow. I have not blown any since the switch. Anybody need a V-flow?

Ebaker,

Sam Shalala has gotten a consistent 5-6 hp in dyno tests w/ the BMC.

I run the K&N and the stock box. it does make about 7WHP as we tested on the our Mustang Dyno. No MAF issues.

Has anyone actually dyno'ed the two back to back on the same car? That would be the only way to tell. I'll give up 7 hp to save my MAF. Just learn to shift faster.

Stephen at IA has dynoed the stock airbox and V-Flow back to back.

The V-flow makes a significant improvement - more so on heavily modded cars. Stephen has the numbers - ask him.

As a second point of reference, I will offer the following: Todd at Protomotive made a custom program for Gunther due to the V-flow and ported OEM headers. Gunthers car made an additional 30 all wheel HP with just these two mods. There are many that frown upon the V-flow that have never used it. I have 2 years and over 20,000 miles on mine with track days and zero issues. The car has noticably better response with the V-flow. Hmm - maybe its the V-flows portion of the Protomotive dyno proven 30 AWHP increase...
