Curious as to other boarders take on this BAD experience from Porsche dealership...
I am in the metro detroit are and when i was in the market for a cayenne turbo i stopped by one of dealerships in my area called FRED LAVERY porsche....i spent 1/2 hour of time with the SERVICE MANAGER there BERT and drove the car...i told him i was also considering an e55 but that if i was interested in the cayenne i would possibly call him back..i also asked him his BEST price whice he told me about 5k back of msrp...
Later that week i called a porsche dealer about 45 mins away from me in lansing....they couldnt be happier to work with me and they also own a bmw dealership....being that i had an 03 m5 to trade in i told him about it and he offered me 62K for it sight unseen. The "local" bmw dealers here offered me 58K for it. Lansing also stated they would sell me a cayenne turbo for 3500 over flat invoice...
suffice to say that i went thru with the deal in lansing.
A week later my best friends brother, after drving mine, wanted a cayenne turbo he spent hours and i mean hours talking to my people in lansing and another "local" porsche dealer but ended up getting his cayenne turbo at the before mentioned FRED LAVERY porsche dealership... I went with him to pick up his car and to check out the crystal silver, mine is basalt black, wished him well and went home......2 hours later RIGHT b4 the dealership closes i get a call from this BERT POOLE at FRED LAVERY saying.."i hear your cayenne riding" i told him yes i decided to buy the truck and im sorry that i didnt go through him however the entire deal and the way it went down i went with another dealer...he asked me who that was i told him and his exact statement to me was "well thanks for the opportunity" however i think u should have your car serviced in lansing because your not welcome here not to mention Kern there TOP porsche mechanic will be too busy to ever work on my car.. He went on futher to say something along the line of my lack of loyalty and mumbled some cut downs and hung the phone up on me.....
Now this is a sales manager NOT a salesman. I got so furious i called back but he had left for the day. Just wondering some impressions from fellow 6speeders. I think its my choice where to buy my car and where i am more comfortable. I really want to get a hold of the owner and tell him what happened not to mention i also own a 996 turbo and last time i checked oil changes, warranty work, 15k, 30k service calls are amongst the highest in the industry on porsches and HE would make money on the service of my cars....I would also like to confront this BERT POOLE as well....
Thougths? suggestions?
thanks
ALSO...is there a number to porshce usa where someone there would care to hear my story as well...? or do they not really care about stuff like this???

Porsche NA won't care to hear your story from the souds of other posts made on here. I think it's BS, and this story is going to haunt Fred Lavey Porsche a little.
Not good business practices at all.
Not good business practices at all.
Conduct like that is not a rare occurence. I won't name any names, but I test drove a MINI S at a local dealership, but ended up going out of state to avoid the $3,000 markup they charge here in CA for these cars. Soon after I recieved the car, it developed a rattle in the hatch and the tops of my black plastic fenders started to fade a little so I decided to call the local dealership and have warranty work done on the car to repair the problems. I called in and upon giving them my name, I guess something in their computer system showed up that said I had test-driven a car at their dealership. They asked me where I purchased my car and why and I told them I purchased out of state because they wouldn't sell me the car at MSRP. The guy who was taking my warranty claim then said that I was not welcome at the dealership and that I wasn't deserving of any service there. I promptly told him he and his dealership could choke on a dick and hung up the phone. Bob Smith MINI has opened up near my house in Calabasas and they've been most pleasant to work with on the few small issues I've had with my car.
Christ - I thought I'd had some dealership woes, but nothing like this crap!
It is totally unbelievable that clowns would do this kind of thing. I'd be all over the GM's *** aswell as Porsche US.
Good luck - let us know how you get on....

Actually quite a few dealers have that policy if you don't buy the car there they will not service it especially if you bought if from a cross town rival. I do not think PCNA will care. I don't agree with it but sometimes its worth paying a few dollars more for the convenience of being able to service locally. One thing I would of done is given the local dealer the final shot to match the price. If they chose not to then thats thier tough luck
I agree with Duane, sometimes its better to pay a premium for the convienence. It wouldnt have hurt to give the local dealer a final chance to match the deal. Did you buy and do you service your TT at this local dealer, are you a customer of thiers? There is no doubt the sales manager could have been more polished about the situation.
P.S. PCNA: (800) 545-8039

So there's a choice. Be held hostage for service or for a higher purchase price. Unbelievable. I don't care where you buy your car, ANY dealer should be more than happy to service the car. What if someone buys used as I did. Do I have to take my C4S to an independant shop? Unbelievable.

I just feel if this guy took the time to show him the car, test drive him and I am sure give him numbers you could of certainly given him a fair shot to earn your business before purchasing elsewhere. If he could not match the deal then thats his loss. The other thing to think of is both of your cars are modded. If for some reason you blow your engine its nice to have a dealer that you have an established relationship with close by. It really also depends the price difference. For a couple grand, me personally would buy the car locally. If were 5k to 10k apart I would look elsewhere.

funny thing is that i service my car at a porsche dealership CLOSER to my home anyhow! just really put off by the phone call from that service manager is all.....I DO plan tomorrow on visiting that dealer and speaking with the dealer principle. If his attitude is that of his sales managers they will not see me in there again and i will DEFINATELY tell all i know to stay away~!
yea i mean, thats a dick thing of the service manager to do. Really puerile if you ask me, but whatever, they dont wanna make money, then thats their problem.
In addition, I do feel that it is proper to make your local dealer a final chance to beat their competitions price.
Whatever's clever.
