Nav Retrofit?
yes it is possible. however very expensive for the second version of porsche nav, which is required for this application.
obviously it makes so much more sense to get a great navi for under 1500. there are so many. look for kenwood, pioneer, alpine, eclipse etc..
i didnt read the whole thread, so disregard if this was said already, but
you cant just get an aftermarket headunit/navi on 03+, without changing out the amp and speakers as well. the output of your stock headunit (i believe cdr23) has a fiberoptics output connection, wich goes to your cd changer and factory amp. From there you have speaker wires going to your components in the dash, doors, rear, and factory sub.
What i was thinking is this. Instead of the 6G's you will spend on a factory nav (which to most people isnt even that great of a nav) you can easily get the newest kenwood or pioneer nav, 1 amplifier (5 channel or 6), a great set of 3 way speakers for the front, some rear speakers (optional if you want rear fill) and a sub box (stock size) in teh stock shelf.
This for sure will not cost you over 6k with install unless you go crazy with really high end stuff.
I just finished installing an eclipse navi on my 03, i changed everything out. ecliipse, audison lrx 6.9 amp driving morel elate 3 way component setup up front, and 3 jl audio 6.5 inch woofers in rear.
did the work myself. will post everything in a week once all is finalized...
but what im trying to say here is dont get oem navi its a waste of money. you can get a whole system for that price. not only will it function better (navi) it will give you so many more options, cost less, and if you do whole system will sound excellent, so much better than stock.

Nothing missing. If you mean the AC DIN slot...mine is on the bottom of my 4 DIN slots.

JB, weren't the AC functions read out on the main screen of the PCM? I know the AC controls are separate along the side of the unit, but the readout would be lost when you changed to the aftermarket unit, isn't that correct?
