Considering Upgrading Front brakes w/18'' wheels anyone else? Group Buy??
ive been told that the best upgrade for the $$ for a tt with 18'' wheels is the brembo 355mm 14'' front upgrade only and that this "kit" needs new wheel carriers to make this happen but that it really makes a difference in braking??? Input?? Anyone else interested? Group Buy?
Hi. search for all the brakes talks previously. Unless you're
running hard on the track, you don't need any more brakes.
Unless you do repeated *hard* braking to really keep the
calipers hot, the stock Porsche brakes are comppletely capable
of locking up all four tires at any speed on dry asphalt. For
99% of Porsche owners, there is almost zero bang for the
bucks of new brakes (except for the strong placebo effect,
after all, everyone knows how much smoother the car runs
after it's just been wshed and waxed
).
Under most conditions your braking is limited by the grip of
your tires. If you want to improve your braking, get shaved, sticky
tires. Much cheaper.
my humble opinion,
Joe

I'm also considering upgrading the brakes. We have a brand new track and I went out in my stock TT. After three very hard laps, my brakes faded and there was smoke coming out. That got me thinking that I definitly need either (a) brake cooling ducts, (b) diffrent brake pads, (c) all of the above plus an upgraded brake system. Now short of the expensive PCCB upgrade, what are the options as far as going to a brembo front brake upgrade or a GT3 style upgraded brakes?I'm not planning on running 19's by the way..

I had the same experience. Then added cooling ducts, then went to pagid orange, hard to live with day to day, a lot of noise and will destroy your rotors. Finally went to 8 piston fronts new ss hoses and larger rear caliper. Works great but since I was driving a lot harder now rear brakes would heat up and brake balance seemed to be off. Replacing rears now with 13,6" floating Brembo to even up brake bias. I have been told that the 15" 4piston fronts have higher braking torque compared to the 8 piston. Matching rears for these would be 14" 4piston. I am very satisfied with the upgrade but I do drive REALLY HARD You should be able to get a set for around 6.5K

Hey guys, add the GT3 brake air scoops and you will notice a big difference. They are by far the biggest bang for the buck you can do for your turbo brake system. The cooling difference is very noticable. If you go to the cjv/ s car go thread there is pictures and discriptions.

PS I'm still unsure as to how they work with my slotted rotors etc... due to the differences in how they cool from drilled.
are those front or rear?? They look similar to the 'brake air baffles' techart sells...
I think there was another GT2/3 part that goes in front of the front brakes where the fender lining is (bigger slits or something)

Brembo? haha ... prehistoric technology ... check out www.newtech-ibs.com ... this is the future.
