Markski , Congratulations on your powerful TT. My question to you and to others with modified engines" it seems that trying to aqcuire those great times comes with breaking stuff, example: axles, rods, cams, mafs, plugs etc.
With your vast knowledge, to what point we can upgrade our car without breaking engine parts? I'm talking about modifying a powerful car but reliable in terms of holding that punch in the long run?
Thanks and good luck with your awesome car.

I don't believe you would be breaking your axles if you were running a LSD.

I know lots pro dragster run 100/100 LSD lock up but that 's very dangerous if one the axle breaks.

That is what I think as well... I don't want to end up in a wall .
Im probably going to put on softer springs ( currently the rears are 671 lbs.)
Im thinking of one more try for the 9s and Im done. No more of this craziness...

Did he just disconnect the front drive shaft or delete the front diff also?

We removed our front driveshafts, front half-shafts and front diffs....and a different coverplate was installed on the tranny.

How does the overall handling charicteristics change with the removed
front diff, driveshafts etc?

That's essentially what a GT2 is. A 996TT without the front driveshaft, front axles, front diff, output shaft hole in the tranny capped off....along with a better suspension (among other things).

After I had a coil-over installed and the suspension professionally adjusted and corner-balanced (by the crew chief of a local Porsche race team)...it handles better than anything I've ever owned. Feels like a stock GT2 with better turn-in (crew chief agrees).
