Who uses different Oil?

I know we're supposed to use 0-40 but that's so Porsche doesn't get owners going in complaining about noises upon start up (valve ticking etc...) and yes to cover their butts when it's really cold. But I live in California and want to run something better than 0w40. I know 993TT guys use 15w 40 Mobil 1, anyone else here use it or something similair? I know CJV does...

We are planning to use different oil with the upgraded motor. He has been using Castrol 10w-60 with his GT-2 clubsport racing car about 640PS. Though 60 seems kinda high for me for daily use. I know for sure we are not going to use the 0w anymore.

There's no reason not to mix some 15w50 with 0w40 Mobil 1. Castrol 5w50 is also a good option. I sometimes worry when the idle pressure gets down to 1.5 bar on hot days. However oil cools the turbo and other bearing surfaces, and thin oil flows faster and cools more.
Probably the only place thicker oil would help is the extreme high pressure area on the camshaft lobes. Because of the relatively weak valvesprings in OHC engines this is probably not such a big issue. However with the skinny variocam lobes maybe it is an issue(?)

I have seen it used on cars that were brought into Scargo Racing. It left a residue in the motor I saw. They will not use it in their motors.

That's me then I'm not familiar with Sweepco so I'll do the research but where do you buy it from?

I use 15-40 Swepco in mine. Fred's European in Morgan Hill carries the oil in Stock.

Do any of you use any friction reducing additives such as the Swepco 505? Any other pointers (i.e. additives) for tanny or cooling system?
