This sounds like a good thing. My local pump gas options are 91 (real gas) and 94 (gas'o'hol). The 94 has proven to best option, as tested in my boosted Suburban, despite not being a true 94 octane. I was hoping to find member support for mixing some Toluene into the 94 Gas-o-hol.

Careful with the Toulene next to your paint.

 

Toluene is already a major constituent of gasoline. The adding,
purchasing and handling of it is not without risk. It will also
dilute the cleaning additives in commercial gasoline, and it can
foul plugs if it is not completely combusted (running large percentages
of it).

Toluene is a good thing on a hot summer day with a clear mixer, Something like 7up or tonic.

 

I prefer it like monk does, straight no chaser.

 

I buy it by the 55 gal drum and have used it in Supra Turbo's for years. Did the math and a lot of testing. It has very "dry" properties so best to add Marvel Mystery Oil each time. I add 5 gallons to 10 super unleaded in a supra for a 96.5 octane rating, which is just enough to prevent the knock sensors from retarding the timing! Cheapest best way to go in my opinion!

Are you sure it's $2.50 a gallon? Where do you buy it? BTW, Xylene works too.

 

$2.50/gallon was copied from the excellent article I posted the link 4. BTW, I think there is a negative side to Xylene in the article. My reading was getting sloppy by the time I got that far down and I don't remember more than that.

 

Price hasn't changed much over the years. I've paid $2.25 per gallon direct from a pretty large distributor with very little markup.

 

thats interesting.......most paint stores sell it for over $12 a gallon, and I used to buy it for what i thought was cheap ($6.50/gallon) for 30+ gallons at a time. $2.25 is ridiculous
