On Hybrids you hit full boost by 3100rpm's.

Hybrids are a definite option, but the main hardware difference between a 996TT and TTS (besides the turbo's and PCCB's) is a modified tranny with, I believe, an upgraded tranny cooler and intercoolers. Hence the slight advantage of getting the TTS and modding from there (the main disadvantage being price difference). As a comparison, an EVO/GIAC stage 4 with K24's is alot more fun, IMO, than a stage 2 with K16's, given the higher peak boost in the former. Hybrids are good, in which case for 996TT versus TTS, it comes down to how much you value the other hardware differences-since you would change from the K16's or the K24's to a hybrid.
Thanks for the analysis. Very informative and thoughtful. I've ruled out the TTS as just too expensive.

I guess the decision comes down to:

(1) a 996TT X50 with a GIAC flash and an exhaust. Should cost about $3,000 for the flash and $3,500 for the exhaust + another $1,000 for labor, air filter and diverter valves. Plus about another $2,000 premium for the X50 car. Total = about $9,500.

(2) non-X50 and a hybrid k16/24 setup; hybrid turbos and flash about $6k (is this correct?), $1,200 for zero clearance + $3,500 exhaust + $1,000 labor and other add-ons as above. Total = about $11,700.

I suppose there's a third option which is a 996TT X50 but then send the k24 turbos to Protomotive or the like and have them "hybridized" and zero clearanced plus the ECU flashed... that might be the best of both worlds.

Anyone have an estimate of how much more that would cost vs. the options above? I gotta think it's substanmtially more but I'm not sure.

Any help would be appreciated.

Only Kevin of Ultimate Motorwerks is the one and only "Zero Clearance" man...
