Keyless entry...

My '02 TT (purchased about a month ago) does not make any sound when when I lock or unlock the doors w/ the remote. The parking lights blink, but they are difficult to see during the daylight. Is this normal? What are the options as far as adding an audible alert? I don't really want to install an aftermarket alarm system, but wouldn't mind only installing a little "chirping" horn or even wiring something to the cars's horn. Thanks!

Mine operates the same as you describe so I *** ume that is normal. Agreed though that in bright sunlight it's near impossible to see.

How much did they charge? I'm trying to get a feel for how difficult it would be to do that same type of thing.

It's been awhile since I've had a 996TT, but I thought this was a dealer programmable option.

My horn beeps as well when I use the remote to lock. It is a simple dealer change. I think (although I am not sure) the dealer can also program the door locks to automatically set when you drive off........like several other types of car.

I think if you click it twice it beeps, but turns off the motion sensor.

Mine has beeped at me acouple of times Maybe that is the reason! I thought I read in the owners manual about the drive off door locking. I need to look again.

If it beeps it is because you hit the lock button twice or you left the glove box and/or arm rest box open.

It is not a dealer programmable "option". Yes, if you hit your remote twice it will sound, but disable the IR alarm. If you have something ajar, you will also get a sound indicating all is not well. Some folks have the center console rigged so the horn sounds, but you never know if you left somethong else open...

Sorry to open an old thread, but now is there anything that the dealer can do to program a chirp during the arming and disarming? It's a pain in the a$$ to check to see if the door is locked on a sunny day.
