Wheel width question. Wheel Manufacturer has two different sizes for F and R wheels ?
The wheels I am getting are offered in two different sizes for front and rears. The front available sizes are 8.5 or 9. The 9 has a larger lip by 1/2 inch. The rears are offered in 11 or 11.5" The lip is 3.5" and 4" respectively. I am going with 235/30/19 fronts and 315/25/19 rears either way, so, which is the optimal set-up? Thanks for your assistance.

The GT2 has 8,5" fronts and 12" rears. Of course there are also guys using 8" front and 11" rears with the tire dimensions you mentioned, but I seriously think you can´t go wrong with the 8,5/11,5 combo. I think KPV uses the same sizes.

Lou,
There are many people using the 8.5 and 11 setups without any adverse effects. I am running 8.5 and 11.5. I cannot comment on using 9's in the front since I do not know anyone using them.
If I were you, considering the way the tires fit the rims, I would stick with 8.5 and 11. The 11.5 seems a little too wide for the Yokohamas that I am using. I am splitting hairs here but since we do not have many 19 inch tire choices, you may as well get rims that work perfectly with what is offered. The tire sizes of 235/35 (NOTE THEY SHOULD BE 35 AND NOT 30) and 315/25 keep the overall diameter between front and rear within reason and that is one of the most important considerations. You do not need 9 inch wide front rims to accommodate the 235's.

I agree with Ken 100%. Cargraphic's 19x9 and 11.5 setup uses Dunlop 245/30 front (that is not a typo) and 305/25 rear which is actually wider than the AVS 315 at the tread block.

The only reason for the extra 1/2 inch in either case is for a bigger 'lip.' This is purely for looks.
What you will sacrifice is strength of the lip. Trust me on that one.

So, when I get tires they should be 235/35, not 235/30?

LSM,
To answer your question I need to know what manufacturer you are using for tires. The width of your wheel will affect how the particular tire is spread on the road. This in turn has some affect in the oversteer/understeer department.
I can give you my opinion then.

LSM,
The thread width on the 235's is 8.5" so go with 8.5 inch wide wheel up front. I couldn't find the thread width on the 315 but the 305 is 10.9 inches. I would go with 11.5-12.0 inch wide wheel for the 315's.
