If one wanted their turbo wingless...

I was at my bodyshop the other day and their was a 996 C4 there. I measured the trunks to see if they swap, and the Turbo trunk as about 1/4 inch wider. Does the trunk from the C4 differ in size compared to the C4S? Im asking beacuse Im curious if you are able to swap trunks to have the nice clean wingless look that I love so much on porsches (there is a white, wingless 997 in montreal that really caught my eye). Thanks in advance guys!

Dan

PS: not because I dont like the factory wing...in fact I love it but sometimes a small change is a good thing.

you can't swap them. well, you can do anything you want if you spend enough money, but they are not interchangeable.

Thanks! So there are no options other than having a shop re-work a factory turbo trunk? Hmmm, thats sounds like a lot of work for a small change.

probably not. most people want to add a wing. i'm not sure there are even any aftermarket decklids for the turbo that don't have a wing. even the wingless ones have the speed actuated wings that raise up on the highway. or your street depending on how you drive

i'm sure someone will chime in that it probably wouldn't be aerodynmically sound with the wing shaved.

I appreciate the responses guys!
Well, its an idea Im just playing with right now....Im just trying to see what the options are, and by the looks of it, theres not too many ! Oh, and if I were to do this I would keep my stock trunk so i could always bolt it back on at a later point in time.

edit: unvmym3: I dont mind looking "ordinary"...sure most people wont be able to tell the difference between a wingless turbo and a carerra, but I dont mind that. I know its a turbo, the person sitting next to me in the car knows its a turbo, so its ok if the guy standing on the sidewalk thinks its a carerra, thats fine by me .

ya, but you dont see those from behind (devil look)

Im just sayin, if one were to say, put a C4s badge on it...im pretty sure most people would think it was...as I get a suprising amount of people who think my car is a boxter or cayman etc...I cant BELIEVE the amount of people that cant even distinguish a boxter from a cayman from a 911...it rocks my socks!

sechsgang sees where Im headed with this (sleeper)!

Kayman...this is true, but you would be surprised how little people know about porsches in montreal since they arent extremely common (and you only see them on the road 6 months of the year).

And a lot of people could care less if it is a Porsche or a Honda. They just want a car to go point A to point B

Hahaha... I've had that too... usually from chicks and dudes that drive cars but don't actually like them!

Well, I'm afraid I simply don't understand...why would you not be proud to show your turbo off? Why do you want a sleeper, to prey on some unsuspecting poor soul? Sorry, just don't get it.

It would be kinda fun though... the non-turbos are clean looking, and clean not in your face look could be interesting?? Not sure.
