Speedometer VS. GPS Speed !!!!!!!
Speedometer VS. GPS Speed !!!!!!!
The entire cluster on my car was changed under warranty. I attached a couple of different Garmin GPS units to the front windshield. I wanted to test how good was the calibration on the new cluster. I placed the car on cruise control at 70MPH and both GPS units were reading 5 to 6 MPH (slower) Speed than the one on the speedometer. So the GPS units were reading between 64 to 65 MPH. Is that acceptable or they need to calibrate the speedo a bit better????
Thanks

I googled it and +/- 3% is acceptable. Like Jean said, 10% is too much. Yes Jean, stock tire sizes.
Going back to the dealer for proper calibration on Monday.
Thanks

That's funny, just got a class action letter stating that Honda/Acura had settled a lawsuit by giving slightly extended warranties and lease mileage credits for most of their cars.
The point was that the speedometer/odometers were off by more than 5% basically costing lessees over mileage charges and letting Honda off warranty claims that much sooner.
at 10% error, If you drove your car 90K miles, it would say 99K miles on the odometer.... not cool.

My GPS is almost dead on up to 165 (on track) IF I had time to stare at it while on the brakes heading into a turn I would know for sure, but I would say no more than 2-3 mph off.
