Life begins at 213 mph in AdamT's RUF Rturbo

Waking up at 5 am at the crack of dawn is a tall order for me but it was definitely worth it because AdamT came to meet me at my hotel in Munich, Germany. After some quick greetings, we were off to get some gas prior to our high speed 200+ mph run on the Autobahn A99/A8 circling around Munich. The sun was coming up on my left side (I was in the passenger seat on the left of Adam's right hand RUF Rturbo) as the beautiful guards red Rturbo made it's way onto the expressway. We were cruising along finding an opening when a VW golf whizzed past us. The chase was on! Adam punched it and before I knew it, the speedo was spitting out mph increments in chunks of 10-20 mph jumping from 80, 90, 120, 144, 150 and by then we'd passed the Golf with the RUF still accelerating strongly. Before too long we hit the magical 200 mph barrier with my digicam taking some video. I could clearly see the speedo making it's slow climb past 200 mph all the way up to 212 then 213 mph. The throttle was floored and the tach at around 7300 rpms. She simply would not go any faster and I had this huge grin on my face as the scenery, cars, and everything else whizzed on by at an unreal speed. I felt like I was in a video game with everything moving in fast forward! We slowed down and made a couple more runs before heading back to my hotel. By then, the gas was already at the halfway mark! At 200+ mph an alarming rate of gas is definitely consumed!

I'm not able to post any pictures nor videos at this time unfortunately because I'm still here in Germany but as soon as I get back home, I'll be sure to do that!

Many thanks to AdamT for this awesome experience!

Seems like you had fun. Haven't done more than 180 in the autobahn (didn't have the proper vehicle) but it's an uplifting experience

The autobahn rocks. Most I ever did was 172 mph in my 06' M3 on the A3 towards Saarbrucken.

Very Cool,

I just had dinner with a Ruf owner who keeps his car in Phaff.
He also has video doing that very same thing.

Does the car not have the taller 6th gear? With that, isn't the car capable of 219mph? I mean c'mon Adam, what are you...chicken?

Sounds like you had a great time Jason, let me know next time you're going. I'd never turn down a trip to the motherland.

Just as an FYI, at those speeds, aerodynamic drag represents a handicap of about 400HP+ !!!
