Need Help with Window Reset

You know when you go to open your door and the window comes down 1/4" and stays down until after you close the door and it then goes 100% up?

Well, my window goes down the 1/4" when I pull the door handle, but as soon as I let go of it, it goes up 100%. This makes for a problem when I go to close the door as there isn't enough room for it to close properly.

Is there a way to reset this? It began to happen after I recently unplugged my battery to reset my ECU.

Thanks, Mike

Reset...hold the button to open the window until the window is fully open...hold it for 10 seconds in this position..repeat this with the window all the way up.

msindi is infamous around these parts
Close the window all the way
Hold down (keep finger on button) and let it go dowan all the way and IMMEDIATELY (almost one complete motion) hold up and let it go up all the way..
voila
(same thing if you have sunroof issues now )

Thanks for the input guys.

I've tried all the above and read the manual also. I believe all these hints seem to be directed towards the situation where the '1 touch' method of opening the window or closing the windows will not work. My 1 touch munction works fine - but the automatic gap created whe the door is opened ends as soon as I let go of the door handle. I think the senson may be cooked.

Mike

Zippy....in this case, yes probably a micro-switch failed. You may need to replace the door latch (which contains the switch that controls that feature).

I got the door latch replaced today. The micro switch was worn out as diagnosed by Statman - thanks again.

Sorry,

I thought I pasted the right link...There are three microswitches in each door:

Outer Door Handle Microswitch, list for about $31.00 each

996.613.125.00 (left door)
996.613.126.00 (right door)

Inner Door Handle Microswitch, list for about $35.00

99661312300 (L & R)

Your problem, I believe is in the third microswitch, which is located at the door lock assembly. Unfortunately, I don't think it's available as a separate part. I am not 100% sure though.
The Door Lock Assembly parts are listed as follows in the PET manual (for 2002 Cab):
8N1837015C $150
3B1837016P $181.00
