997tt is not fast??
In the latest car and driver, they compared various sports cars at Virginia International Raceway and the 997tt did not do well.
lap times: zo6 2:58
gt3 3:01
r8 3:04
exige s: 3:04
base corvette:3:03
997tt: 3:05
ford gt500: 3:05
bmw 335 : 3:10
I find this very surprising that a corvette is faster on this track than the turbo and the gt500 is the same speed. Are these numbers consistent with the Ring? How do you think the 996tt would have done? (i'm afraid to ask).

uhh...what configuration are they using...because those are some SLOOOOOOW times if thats the "full course"
I ran a 216 in my turbo on street tires and little talent...they must have been using the "north course"...either way...thats wierd...

I could care less about which car is better but when it comes to track performance stock vs stock there is no comparison drag racing or road racing.
Not only that there is no chance in hell the Z06 beat the GT3 by almost 4 seconds. Not to mention the GT3 looked like it had huge wheels on it and the tires DO NOT look like MPSC's.

Vincent gave me nice whoopin at Big Willow in his chipped 997TT though. Nothing beats skill at the track.
IMO a lot of Porsche enthusiasts do not give enough credit to the Z06. 3150lb, 500 HP, 475 TQ and big fat tires all around... you do the math. Maybe it's not sophisticated, but it's a brute.

I didn't read the article but agree with those who said the numbers make no sense. While there's certainly variation amongst production cars, unless they got the mother of all dud 997TT, it should have been faster. We can argue all day about will a Z06, GT-3, Turbo, etc. be faster but there's no way the Mustang should be there unless it was a ringer. The mags should always do a dyno test before comparo's so no one can stack the deck.
