It's crazy how 2 of the 5 North America 05's have been for sale in the last couple of weeks.

 

I have an inside line (friend at dealership) on the new 997 GT2 that bases at $190. 2004 is rare but not worth 199.

 

I'm sure their door is getting beat down for that car at that price. Idiots.

I'm sure dealers frequent these forums and see how desirable the GT-2's are now and sell/price accordingly! Besides they're trying to unload before the next gen. comes!

Why would anyone except a collector want a car that pristine. Every 1000 miles would cost you $20K.

 

I don't think its going to drop as much as you think to tell you the truth. It's still a highly desirable car, not only because of its limited run in the 996 platform, but I think much of it has to do with the aftermarket potential of it. There aren't too many lightweight, RWD turbocharged cars that can handle high horsepower on pump gas! For a gearhead this car is perfect! circa 3000 lbs, RWD, power/drivetrain potential of a 996 turbo, and all the handling/braking characteristics of a track car. Prices will remain around the same up until the 997 gt-2 aftermarket is figured out! I think the aftermarket potential of any car as well as the hype with it directly correlates to how much a car is worth, at least for rare turbocharged vehicle! Prices won't go down as much necessarily, but instead stable out.

It will be a while before the 997 aftermarket catches up to the 996.

There are some cars that might do one thing better than the 996 GT2, but really there is no car that does as many things as well. You can have a car w/ 500 plus rwhp on pump for highway racing, a track car, and and reliable dd that is a stunning beauty, all in one car.

Those guys are in an expensive burb, many will pay big $$$ for it so I don't know, they may get it.

 

The only "excuse" for paying anything near that would be for a collector, not a driver. No question in many years to come a low mileage, rare car like this will be pulling some money but by then the only mods most of us will need is all-terrain tires on our Jazzy.
