Psm/abs Light
Psm/abs Light
Down South France on holiday, weather is scorchio!
Popped out to shops in car, floored it and at about 50/60, it suddenly died for a quick second (like I was completely off the gas) then everythng was ok. Continued journey with ABS/PSM Light on thinking everything will be ok after I have done shopping, the light will go out when I restart (had this occasionally before!) when I restarted light was back on, car feels good, still boosting 1.2, so I returned home disconnected battery for 5min, reconnect and light comes back on with no movement whatsover (just turn key and let it idle)
Anyone have any idea?
Thanks Steven

don't think maf as car would ****ty..... try cleaning your maf see what happens... getting full 1.2 can't be in limp mod.. you might pull the correct fuse and the put it back ..... must be a glutch if car is running fine... when my maf went south had no codes at all ..have an oil filter ?
I thought that PSM ABS lights usually mean MAF... but who knows... run the codes...

Unfortunately PSM/ABS codes are a catch all for many problems. The original symptoms...like the car shut down (limp) and then the codes...followed usually by CEL is typical of MAF failure. And it will not "reset" with battery disconnect until the MAF is replaced (cleaning will not help this). However, what is unusual is that you are hitting 1.2 bar...usually the blown MAF will not let you get more than .6-.7 boost???? So as Mark suggests, get the codes read.

Wross, I just clocked a previous post of yours that mentioned you blew a maf but was still boosting 1.2, Is this the case?

Had the same issue just had it fixed
I had the same indicator lights come on and thought it was the MAF. The code would clear then appear each time I drove the car.
Took to Sharkwerks and they checked the codes. Turned out to be a faulty break switch. Part and labor was a 1/3 the costs of a new MAF. The failed part was a cheap plastic switch.

It's maybe just the way you have worded it, I done a search for "blown maf" and it was under the heading "Symptoms of blown or going MAF" sorry if any confusion.
Anyway, it was a MAF, lucky I was carrying a spare, kind French chap changed it as I never had the hex tool with me!
Spot on again Mark +1 Rep point
