Evotech or Giac

A friend of mine has a 2003 x50 and is looking to flash his ecu. I wanted to see what tune was best between the evotech or giac. Are the gains and price the same?

never heard of EVOTECH? I thought they did Mercedes? Either way stick I'd stick to a tuner that has extensive knowledge and a proven track record with tuning 996TTs.

I think you ought to look at UMW...very nice gadget...nothing leaves your car, and Kevin lets you "upgrade" as you upgrade the car to better x y z..... He is porsche turbo only....and very, very nice to work with. He knows about as much as anyone in the country about the 9xx turbo.......whateveryou do, go with a porsche centric tuner. Just my opinion. The cost of screwing up one of these cars......

Anyway, I have it in my car and save for adding DV's at the same time, it is stock and it is super...oh yeah, lwfw and clutch....it sort of happens in spurts.

Good luck.

BTW, you can go back and forth to stock in under 2 minutes with the gadget Kevin sends.....it holds up to 8 programs. Valet, 91octane, 93, race, etc....

What does your friend eventually want? This will effect which direction he goes...just flash or stage 1 or more? Pick something that will fit in the long range plans...Talk to the tuners to get it figured out before you dump money into something that will not fit the future plans.

What gadget do you speak of regarding UMW? What does it cost and how much power to expect with the retune?

He is referring to the handheld PP100 Programmer that holds up to 8 files and can flash the ECU by the enduser in 20-30sec. How much power depends on the file and the application. In my case, we will have a 92,100, and 104 octane file . I will also have files with different redlines as well. Cant forget the "tame " file for when the Mrs drives the car .Kevin G

He said he wants to just tune the car, no exhaust, no turbo swap just a simple bump in some hp and call it a day. I think he is getting the vf intake or whatever evoms calls it.

Not sure since I never bought the flash individually. I had the stg2 ZC turbo kit with the flash as a package price.
