Question exhaust tips..anyone done something off the beat and trail.....

Hi.

I have stock 2002 ovals. They are nice, fit perfectly, but are a bit tame.

The dual tips are nice, but 200 - 500 on ebay. Stock over 500.

Tubi's look great, but are 700 a pair.

We are talking exhaust TIPS. Nothing against the toyota/honda/bmw crowd, but I don't think those guys have to pay 700 to get cool tips......

Does anyone have an idea about where or how to make nicer tips or buy them without getting pummeled. I am all for paying for things....but exhaust tips just seem a horribly pricey thing in the big picture.

I might just weld my own....I have some basic Ti experience......and it might be fun.....anyone do this?

JB

Ebay throws up some bargains.

I have the dual tips but fancy a change also the techart dual tips look great. And I like the 997C4S seperate dual tips look nice.

FVD have a few options on their site.

I may go for black tips for a change.

It's "beaten" trail. As in well-worn. As in the common thing to do. Refer to Robert Frost's poem: "Two Roads Diverged in a Yellow Wood" . . .

I have a custom exhaust that was made for my car by Protosport. I'll try and get some good pictures of the tips to post up later this week. I just had them make a exhaust for my wife's Cayenne and they made a set of matching tips for her car too!

I had my stocks treated in "Black Diamond" (basically a black chrome process) It ran about $150 bucks plus shipping back and forth. They came out beautifully! I have a matching black chrome turbo logo on my silver TT and the contrast is beautiful IMO... I'll try and post some pics soon...

That reminds me of my favorite book "Eighty-Eight Paces To The Outhouse" by Willie Makit and illustrated by Betty Wont

I have Remus dual tips I bought on Ebay for $125. Perfect look and not the usual duals. Nice and fat, and fill the oval shaped opening just fine. I'll post pictures if I can. Probably will require mods to fit on certain exhausts.
