Possible Group Buy - TechArt GTS Front Carbon Lip

A friend of mine found this carbon guy that can make the replica piece really cheap. But he asked in volume to proceed. Anyone interested in it?

I know I'll be taking 3-4 pieces myself b/c i'm on my 5th lip and have no inventory left behind...lol.... The piece will be made of straight carbon fiber and thicker/stronger than original piece. He told me the cost should be around 300/piece if not wrong.

It's gotta be a group buy, and will be hard to do it again in the future after the first wave of people bought their needs (hard to get that many people to produce them in bulk).

I've seen the carbon quality from pics, quality isn't bad...

Any taker? please only if you're serious about buying it...

The problem is they are too low...first you worry about every dip in the road...then you ultimately shatter them.

Agreed with Wross, if he was to construct with less down lip (halfed or so), this can be done as the down lip does not supply any down force imo, I would take 2 no problem. I will see if I can find pic!

this thing will take a while to do since have to send out my original piece to him first...
he showed me the other carbon pieces he built, b/c he's never made the lip before...
perhaps i can get some picture of the m3 lip he made for AC...

Yeah i know it'll work so much better if the lip isn't so low, however it lose the whole purpose of adding it up if we were to cut it half inch or 1 inch back... might not have as much downforce and if that's creating the problem i'd just raise my car up...
but i guess i just like the way it sits low, that's why i'm looking for cheaper lip... so i can break it w/o crying for it... since i'd have 4-5 more spare in my garage....

your downforce will come from the width of the section coming out from the car, I'm sure it would be fine if the down piece had some height removed from it, but it would need a rounded end (I have just cut straight to give you rough idea) I feel there is no point in getting a load made at the original height, most guys including myself run lowered suspension and it is bad enough, I have also gone through 2 lips.

Hi Stevo,
I got what you're saying now... that's a good idea to go with.
Also can you do me a favor? They're asking for the length width and thickness of the piece. I don't have my car with me. I'm travelling in NY and my car is back in LA @ Lucent.

Is it possible that you can take a quick measure of the unit? or anyone.. Thanks. Then he'll be able to roughly quote me how much a piece might cost... (it depends on how many layers of carbon we want too)(thickness)

Kevin

I'm in work at the moment, and I can't remember if I have a shattered piece left over, will look later when I return! unless someone else has the piece to hand!

cool thanks...
this won't be a rushy job and perhaps will take long to do b/c i'll be working in nyc till end of aug... and will return to sf afterward to ship out my piece for the mold... that is if the price is good w/ enough people to proceed.

but plenty of time to get enough people if they're interested...

Stevo has the right idea...I'd be interested if it was smaller. I have a shattered one, but in my warehouse...I will try to get to it today.
