How to turn off daytime running lights?
My car came from Canada originally. So, it has daytime running lights (meaning -- they stay on all the time unless I turn the car off). Does anyone know a way to convert the car so that the lights will be off unless turned on with the switch?

I'm sure it can be reprogrammed by the PST2 Porsche System Tester by a dealer or authorized service tech... unless it is required by law in your neck of the woods.

go with Tool Pants and Dbelleperc. There should be a relay that you can just disconnect. How do i know this? I have to do the reverse and add DRLs to my US spec car which I imported to Canada. To get the DRLs we added a relay.
US Porsche cars do not have the additional relay and wiring for the lights. That is why the PST2 cannot turn it on.
Look under the dash for the relay tray. The relay is twice the size of the others. I do not have a picture of a Canadian relay tray. It should be where I have placed the X.
Pull the relay out. This is the way Peter Smith said to do it on a Boxster. Let us know if it works. Jeff

I might as well have daytime running light. I always turn them on... Greatly reducing the chance of being involved in a head on accident, due to your greater visibility to oncoming traffic.

This is one reason why I don't like DLR's. LINK. Other than that the people that just drive around at night with them on because they forget to turn the headlight switch on, and I just don't like them.

Some things that need to be considered during the analysis is the cost of car accidents (both automoible costs and human cost (insurance payouts for injury etc.)), snarled traffic (which leads to lost productivity and gas being wasted as cars sit STUCK in traffic), human life (Priceless) etc. These things are HARD to measure, but alas, they need to be factored into the equation listed in your link. If they could put a number to all of that, I'm sure the equation would look much different.
