What do you track junkies out there suggest?

 

I just did Watkins Glen and my friend had the magnetic number plates. He still had to tape them down at the event.

 

Looks like I might go the reusable vinyl route then. Thanks!

 

Used both - never had to tape the magnetic. Like them better because they were easier to keep clean

 

Vinyl is only re-usable for 2, maybe 3 track events then get out the tape.

 

two things with the magnetic ones. I always have to tape the leading edge or they come off. also remember that if it rains the magnetic type react with water and can cause paint damage.
I use vinyl now. there are two types reusable and permanent. the reusable are ok if you take good care of them and put them back on the backing paper.
the easiest is the magnetic and use some tape on the leading edge. IMHO

Alright - you guys have swayed me over. Gotta get a set before this Thursday if I can get into the NNJR PCA event at Watkins Glen.

Besides a clear bra, any temporary suggestions for protecting the front end besides painters tape?

Painters tape is the way to go. I have seen everything from clear bra to spray on crap. Painters tape works great, peals easy and is cheap protection.

 

I use the vinyl, reusable. If you keep them in the original backing, you should have no problem. I have mine for over two years and still work perfectly. Here a photo of my car with the reusable ones:
