What octane is considered race gas?

The only readily available "race gas" I can find around town is Sunoco 100 unleaded. Is it safe to run my GT700 race program with this octane?

Buddy,

Maybe an overused term but I found that if You call VP Racing fuels
and find out who your local distributor is, you can buy 5 gal, 15 gal,
(I prefer the 54 gallon--best price).
MS103 unleaded == 99 motor octane (R+M/2= 103) color = red
or
MS109 unleaded == 101 motor octane (R+M/2=105) colro = clear

My car is specifically tuned for MS103 as I sent Todd Knighton (2) ea. 5 gallon
cans so that he could tune high boost on it. We know exactly what it does
on THIS PARTICULAR fuel. I like the conveniance of having the gas myself,
and "my gas station" is open 24/7.

Buddy,

Do you have a boost controller?

Wood,

Todd tuned my car on C-12 (and pump) but he said it should run just as well on VP 109.

Question for all: How long will race gas keep in a drum/dark container is a hot garage (it has been hitting 100 here in Houston). Is it OK as long as it is covered?

Buddy,

You are going to have to ask the person who programmed it or installed the program. I would not risk the 100, although that is great for pump gas. Buy yourself a drum of the appropriate race gas.

Buddy, there are 2 local Sunoco stations near my house that carry GT104 unleaded at the pumps. This will be my fuel of choice for the track and at only 6$ gallon not too outrageous... Maybe it is carried near you as well. Check with some local car clubs since that is where i found out about the 104 local to me. Sunoco's national website only gives locations for GT100. Good luck.
