the lambo does have 20% more horsepower and weighs about the same. I'm not sure what they point is...

they should have compared the 500 hp Gallardo to the 450 hp X50 Turbo for a fairer comparo .

What I've observed in the last 2 years of Turbo test numbers, is that they are getting progressively slower. Is it due to increased vehicle weight? Or can it be magazine number fudging in order to beef up the newer car? I remember when a TT would be known as a very low 4 sec 0-60 car, if not, a clutch thrashing high 3 sec 0-60 car. Also the 0-150mph(0-250kph) at 27 secs is laughable compared to previous results of less than 23 secs. Take it for what it is I guess

An X50 or a GT2 would be more relevent (and also much closer to the Gallardos price here in the UK).

Another point to add, for those of us living above 5,000 feet MSL cars with forced induction retain most of their performance, where cars that are not (like the Lambo) lose 20-30 percent of their power depending on temperature, local barometric pressure etc.

I agree. But you know how it is to get cars for testing sometimes.
I say, Porsche shouldn't make the 420 hp version at all

It appears that the 2001 TT does much better against the Gallardo -

It appears that the 2001 TT does much better against the Gallardo -

Road and Track 2001 tt (November 2000)

Performance
Top Speed: 190 mph
0-30: 1.4 seconds
0-40: 2.4 seconds
0-50: 3.2 seconds
0-60: 4 seconds
0-70 4.9 seconds
0-80 6.5 seconds
0-90 7.8 seconds
0-100 9.2 seconds
0-1/4 mile: 12.4 @ 115.6 MPH

0.96 g lateral acceleration cornering force

Road and Track 2004 Gallardo (March 2004)

Performance
Top Speed: 192 mph
0-30: 1.8 seconds
0-40: 2.5 seconds
0-50: 3.2 seconds
0-60: 4 seconds
0-70 5.1 seconds
0-80 6.2 seconds
0-90 7.7 seconds
0-100 9.1 seconds
0-1/4 mile: 12.3 @ 117.4 MPH

0.95 g lateral acceleration cornering force

It was also 30 degrees F cooler when the Gallardo was tested (63 degrees vs. 91 degrees F), so I am sure lowering the 2001 tt test temp to the same 63 degrees as the Gallardo would have resulted in the same or better numbers than the Gallardo.

As a quick reference, both cars tested at 0-100 in 9.2 seconds in Car and Driver magazine as well........ (2001 tt vs. 2004 Gallardo also)

before i ordered my TT with all the goods which i must add i will be picking up in 2 week mMmMm my other option was a GALLARDO. nevertheless the only reason i didnt get one was because the car is an AUDI seriously (eng and interior) and its rear bumper is an MR2. plus its no drive like a TT
