When u run 1.3 bars take it to redline but when u run more boost shortshift it. That is the trick with these k24/18gs....

Thanks for all the advice - I think next time may be it.
I forgot to lower the tire pressure and turn the PSM off on that run, too. By the time I made these adjustments - I couldn't get any traction at all.
wross, Thanks and I agree - There was a 700 HP, '68 corvette with a lenco??? transmission (the type where you just pull each lever in sucession - no clutch), wheelie bars, etc. that was trailered in. I was talking to the owner and he was telling me all about it - he did a very nice job on it. The motor was sticking out of the hood and it looked mean. On my first run, he was just ahead of me and does the massive burnout and proceeded to run 11.4 @ 128. I get up and pull an 11.2 @ 131 with very little commotion and drive home...

I would be very happy with that time slip...after all it is a porsche which you probably drove there and back! Congrats.

John,
if you forgot to turn off your PSM that may have hampered ur results...

John,
As Mark noted, you can run a bit more boost (get some VP 109 if you can). If you don't want to run a dr, my new Nitto 01's have been hooking like mad at a 40 punch in second gear and are a phenomenal all around tire.

Mark - I know, what an idiot! I couldn't believe I forgot the PSM - I actually think I felt it cut power for a split second in 1st gear - the funy thing is...my first 3 runs were the best and they all had PSM "on". The question is "would they have been better runs had I done everything the same, but remembered to turn the PSM off?"
Dr - I was leary of running a lot of boost as my engine now has 72,000 miles and I am not sure if the head gaskets weaken with age?
Scott - Thanks for the interesting data and tire advice. How does the fact that my front viscious coupling has failed play into these numbers, if at all?

John,
Assuming the weight of your car with you in it is 3,700 lbs, you would need 570 awhp to trap 131.75 mph.
Assuming 18.5% drivetrain loss...that puts your crank HP at 699.35.

OF course John there is no a question about it. It happened to me a few times in the past too....
Also, did u let the ecu learn a little before u got on it at the track?
You could have ran some more boost.

Great run John....you should be in the 10's soon. By the way I dynoed on Monday 625rwhp at 1.4 and 579 at 1.2 on 104 octane.

Those are great numbers, congratulations! 1.4 bar - I never even considered that and thought that was too much for a stock motor. I do know that if I had 1.4 dialed in on that run, the 10's would be history! At least I met my other goal which was to *not* blow the motor today
. Man, everyone is indicating "more boost"...perhaps I was a little conservative.

Raudel,
My motor feels strong and has always felt good. It was very happy today at 1.27 bar and could probably handle another 1 bar. I have to tell you though, my front diff is another story. We put the car up on the lift yesterday, as I had a clunking sound somewhere in the drivetrain and wanted to check things before going to the track today. When they put their hands on the shaft running to the front diff and turned it - the front diff sounded like it had marbles in it. They said that they have seen much worse and that I would be OK today, so I kept my plans. I am making arrangements to replace the VC ASAP and get the car back in order next week.
