Question about boost level

I have a UMW chipped X50 with 100-cell cat exhaust. I run 91/100 octane mix and I only see a steady .9bar w/ 1.0bar spike in 2nd and 1.0 w/ 1.1 spike in 3rd, 4th and 5th. Is this normal? Shouldn't I be seeing a steady 1.2 bar? I had the dealer check for boost leaks and nothing...

Is there anything else I can check and/or modify to get a steady 1.2 bar... I would even settle for 1.1. Please help.

Thanks, Josh

the car wont hit 1.2 in second gear. 3rd gear and up i hold 1.2 on pump file and 1.3 on race file. however, it all depends on outside conditions. when it is really hot and humid i will get 1.1 bar not the 1.2...

i think you are ok but you can always try tightening down the wastegates a little

... why are you selling them anyway. I think I just might buy your headers.

Back to the boost question - I am running stock wastegates, do I need to upgrade them?

and remember, my crank broke and totally destroyed my engine, hummmm just a thought for you guys next time you ask how to get your boost higher!!

of course I had the "upgraded" waste gates and ran 1.2 bar at the track. This time I plan on leaving the stock waste gates alone..............I said this time I am going to leave the stock waste gates alone.......

I have talked to Kevin about this and he doesn't say to get "upgraded" wastegates, he actually suggests just adjusting the stockers. What wastegates are you running?

I post this in hopes to gather additional comments and recommendations. This is all so new to me (coming from s/c'd AMG's).

Just to make one thing clear... I don't think it's the UMW program that causing the lower boost because when I first installed it I immediately saw 1.2 bar the first day. However, I have not been able to reproduce that boost level. Just looking for some new ideas as to what could be causing my boost to run at sub chipped X50 level. Thanks guys.

you know it!!
also you guys must decide what type of hard duty your car will see.
if just street driving/stop light racing etc, lot of mods may not be too bad
if running hours at a track weekend after weekend, I must admit the closer to stock the more reliable.....I have heard that from the best of the best with these engines

I wouldn't argue with what Kevin says...he will know what you have...I don't. I do have kevin's wastegate kit and the car is running just perfect...all summer.

Tom, when are you getting the wastegate kit???
