Good price for a 2002 Turbo X50?

Well my dad is interested in a 2002 Turbo with the X50 package. I am somewhat familar with 996 TT prices but not sure how much more the X50 commands.

Its a 2002 Turbo with X50 package. 21k miles, Slate gray metallic with black leather. Carbon fiber package, steering wheel, hand brake, center console, and shift ****. 18" wheels, Bose sound with 6 disc cd changer in trunk, xenons, power seats with driver memory. Built in Esscort Passport RSX radar detector. New clutch was installed at a Porsche dealer at 19k miles. Oil/oil filter change along with the cabin air filter was done at 20k miles. The steering wheel has a crack in it. Car does have some normal highway marks.

The car is currently on ebay. Now assuming it is in good mechanical shape and no previous paint work, what is a good price?

I have seen regular 01 TT 6spds sell for around 55K. The dealer gave my dad a bottom line price of $61.5. Is this a really good deal or average? Any input is appreciated.

Seems cheap to me. Make sure the car is in good condition (i.e PPI). Clutch at 19K may indicate an agressive driving style. Negotiate in alignment ($300), balancing tires, new floor mats, etc. if you can.

I ended up spending another thousand doing little stuff like that.

I Think 61.5k for a 2002 x50 is a great price. I would jump on that. It won't last long at that price.

Yeh I thought the price seemed a bit low. The clutch being replaced at 19K scares me a bit though. Has anyone had to replace their clutch that soon?

No that is a bit sketchy. Check for type II over revs and 2nd gear pop outs. If it passes in these areas i think you should be good. Great luck!

Just got off the phone with the dealer. He says the car does not have the 2nd gear popping out issue. Not sure how many overrevs though. He says he has just spent $8000 (receipts included) at a porsche dealer on a new clutch, 20k service and 40k service....that doesnt sound right to me. I thought the services are done at 15k and 30k.
Also he is really pressuring my dad to buy this car today. He says dealers offered 60-62 and they will be able to sell it for 69 no prob.

What is a type 2 over rev? My car revs so fast in first gear I occasionally bump the limiter in first gear.

If it checks out on PPI, sounds like a great deal. I'm a little wary that the dealer is pressuring so much for a quick sale. Make sure it passses a PPI.

Maybe your dad can agree to buy it contingent upon it passing a PPI with a clean bill of health. That way the dealer should be satisfied. If the dealer isn't satisfied with that, then I would take it as a very clear signal that there is something wrong with the car.

This is not a Porsche dealership. The clutch going <20K suggests a hard driven or poorly driven car (regardless of make). This is the kind of history that make you want to skip the car period. You can find better.
