Bay area wheel refinishing?
Bay area wheel refinishing?
I bought a set of 4 used HRE 3-piece wheels that could use some TLC. Naturally, HRE advised me to send the wheels to them, but that will run ~$1500 for paint and polish. Have any of you Bay Area Boyz found a wheel rebuilder you'd trust to rebuild 3-piece wheels?

There are 2 that I know of:
Wheels America - http://www.fixrim.com/
Wheel Techniques - http://www.wheeltechniques.com/Default.htm
I've used Wheel Techniques twice and have had good results.
I have no affiliation - just happy they have been able to repair/restore my wheels.

Rite-way Wheel in Walnut Creek did a good job in repairing some curb rashed stockers from my 911. Here's their info:
1119 Alpine Rd
Walnut Creek, CA 94596
(925) 933-4046
It isn't the most professional looking place, but Jose' does great work and he often repairs wheels from many different places (out of state) and dealerships.

If you're looking for a place in SF, these guys have done very nice work for me. http://maps.google.com/maps?sourceid...52397280024671
Be careful of Wheel techniques. I have not been able to get ahold of anyone by email for several weeks. Told them I was going to be deployed and email was the only way to do buisness which they agreed on. Seems to me at this point in time I have lost an out of production wheel.
Thanks for the replies - I plan to call all the suggested places tomorrow. One more comment - I don't want to get bent over, but I'll gladly pay a premium for genuinely superior quality. The trick is finding the place that provides it!

I ended up using Wheel Techniques in San Jose to recoat the spokes and Fine Metal Finishes in Hayward to polish the lips. Both companies did a fine job, and I spent much less money with those 2 companies combined than HRE wanted for the same work. If it stops raining this weekend I'll snap some pics.
