Eric, You can purchase a set through a Porsche dealer, my guess would be pretty costly, and sell or keep your red set, or you can have your red set refinished in yellow for a minimal cost.

Does Sandoval take the calipers apart and paint the pieces and then reassemble with new seals? The seals break when the caliper is taken apart. Just don't want anyone to reinvent the wheel so to speak on your nickel.

..

I remember reading a thread about brakes on the Rennlist forums. It was mentioned that you could get the entire GT2 steel set (front & rear) for about $1k. Not sure where, though. I´ll look it up.

Enitre GT2 steel fornt and rear is hard to believe as the calipers alone would cost more than that....
Also, Sandoval does install new seals and he 'rebuilds' the calipers after powdercoating

Guys,

Thanks for the answers. I've heard Eric does great work, but what do you do while the car is down - how long does it take?

Mansour, not changing the calipers on my TT. It's for a different car.

I have three sets going into process right now. PM me for the details. I can get them done in less than a week... Robert put me up to it and showed me I could do it. However, I really need 10-14 days. If everything goes right. I am a perfectionist so if they are not perfect they need to be reshot. The beginning of the month is better for me as I am swamped with work the last week of the month. If you are dependent on your car we can make some scheduling arrangements.

FYI I do not touch the inter seals for liability reasons. The seals do not need replacing on a 996 at this point. If you had a 10 year old caliper that may be a different story.

Eric

msindi, here´s the thread I was talking about - I got the prices wrong, but they still don´t sound too expensive.

Big brake thread @ Rennlist
