Help 2nd session lost boost no codes?

Shifting into 4th down the front straight and heard something then no boost! Checked the boost hoses underneath and in the engine area nothing loose and no lights on the dash? It is running rough, not idling and shutting off?

Help! Thanks

It was a driver side boost hose going to the intercooler that came off. Put it back on and thought I was all good went on a test run and it popped off again! Got on a hoist and the plastic part of the intercooler where the boost hose connects is broken! Of course Porsche made this a cheap plastic part! They are going to screw it into the plastic and JB Weld to stay on. Looks like today will be done but hopefully I will be able to run Saturday and Sunday.

Wow, I'd bag it and get it fixed properly and hit it another day. It's only gonna pop off again I'm afraid.

I don't know......I've done some pretty spectacular repairs using JB weld back in the day....
Depends on how well they can access it I suppose.....

Good excuse to upgrade those coolers Buddy?

Buddy, think about this for a minute. You go and goop JB Weld all over the junction and throw a screw in the side for good measure. On your run it blows off again (because it will) - where do you think all the JB fragments and screw will get sucked up into? I'd hate to hear that your engine ate something nasty and now needs a lot more than a new IC.

I know it's tempting but please don't do it. Chalk it up to ****ty design and get the EVOMS intercoolers and be done with it. I just went through the same thing 2 weeks ago. Blew a hose off, spent an hour taking the bumper off and putting the hose back in, pulled out and BAM it popped off again. I limped it home and on the horn to Stephen at IA and ordered the ICs right then. It's SO not worth the hassle that I might be stuck again, I'm going to put some T-bolt clamps on and be done with it forever.

Aren't you at the point where you should do this anyway?

Good luck man.

Tim at Euro Autowerks came through, I took it to him at the lunch break and he was back at the track before my 3pm run group. I only missed 1 session, he ended up not having to weld it and just screwed the hose into the metal. It held no problem through the 2 sessions after lunch.

I may upgrade the intercoolers after this weekend, just want to make it through the next 2 days.

Gt700

Buddy,

Do you have the silicon boost hoses? It's one of the first things I did since
I went to GT700 on my GT2 and my previous turbo. I was constantly blowing hoses. With the miles you have on your kit I'm surprised that you had not blown off a hose before. I also did the EVO intercoolers. No issues to date on mine. What's the max boost that you're running on the track, 1.2bar? It will be interesting to hear more about your GT700 at the track. I believe another 6speed guy, Cleve from ATL regularly ran his built GT700 GT2 hard at Road Atlanta. I was so impressed with the car I nearly bought it. Have fun.

Buddy,
High boost and a race file on stock intercoolers is probably not a great idea. I'm sure many are doing it but this part is too easy and inexpensive to ensure max power and reliability in the long run. I bet you can afford it. No one likes spending 1500 to 2k when they are not sure if they have to but if I were at your power level I would do it. Good luck and I hope the rest of your sessions were good.
