Supercharged?

Hello all, I have just joined you guys and have a new Porsche to me. I have a 01 C4 Cab and was wondering how much power I could get with a supercharger? How much does it cost to make this change and what other recommendations would you make to increase the power? I had a 86 Cab in the past along with a 930. Thanks for the info and what a great forum.

Thanks,

Mike

SUPERCHARGER'S are your best friend. I have a TPC Racing SC. Their kit runs 5psi and does about 375 RWHP. I am running 7psi with headers and B&B Tri Flow Exhaust. I ran a little colder plug. I last dyno'd 412 RWHP and love every minute of it. The SC is roots style system which is instant power. The Vortech SC on my BMW builds boost as it builds rpm's. Do it, you will shock a lot of TT's and Lambo's.

Can you give me a ball park price for all the engine mods you did with exhaust? Will my local Porsche shop do this, or would I need to go to a special tunning shop?

Thanks,

Mike

The charger is not bad, but the tuning cost an arm and a leg!

I would highly recommend it. Transforms the car completely. You're looking in the $10k-15k range, depending on if you also do headers, exhaust, racing cats, etc.

My highest recommendation, and one that will make this project wonderful rather than a nightmare, is to take it to a tuner who has done a number of these before. My personal recommendation is to take it to Stephen Kaspar at Imagine Auto in Kansas City. They're a board sponsor, so their info. is to the right. Or you can go to imagineauto.com

TPC (tpcracing.us) ran about 10K but came with a pre-tuned plug and play engine management piggy-back control unit. No real tuning, plug it in and go.
You will put about 3k in the headers and exhaust. I would not dare use a Porsche dealer as the labor would kill you and you will have no breaks from them during a project like this. Call TPC and ask them for a partner in your area that they work with.

You tuner for the SC and exhaust may charge around 2k for the install. Hope that helps.

Bluegrass just did an install on my 2000 C2, so I know you can get it done there. As for any other options, I didn't find anyone close who has done one before.

I started with NA mods first then the SC. If I had to do it all over again, I would just start with the SC and an exhaust... engine wise thats really all you need... other mods are just 5hp here and there... not worth the money imho.
Then theres the suspension and the SSK and then go on a diet, wheels, gt3 seats, batteries etc...

I love my EVOMS supercharger. Over 500hp at the crank. If you are going with them, I would definitely use an installer they recommend. Also, as mentioned above, the other mods are very marginal compared to the huge, and cost-effective, gains provided by the supercharger itself.

Tony, I tried to pm you back but I need 15 posts to do so. You can call me on my cell phone at 502-417-6463. I talked to Lee at Blue Grass Porsche and he told me about your car. I am going to do this mod and have some questions for you.

Thanks,

Mike
