Is there a buyer's guide somewhere for 996's?

I could really use a checklist for things to check out when buying a used 996. Especially from a non-mechanic point of view.

Should I wait till next Feb to purchase the car? The reason I am asking is because it will be a year older where I think i will be getting a better deal. What do u guys think?

hi!

we bought a used 996 about 7 months ago with 33K miles from a private owner. all has been good so far! i can't say the same about a friend of ours that bought a used 996 the same month. his car had been heavily tracked and had some issues with leaking fluid, antifreeze, a couple of minor electrical problems, and a leaking seal issue. not to say that tracking is a bad thing, i myself do it. heck, that's what having a porsche can be all about! but, it's just something to consider when buying. i'd ask to see the maintenance records, and if it had mods done, were they done by a qualified person? otherwise, if done by a not to wrench friendly person, it could lead to some issues.

this is all just IMHO of course. these guys here on 6 will give you some great advice!

I'll probably end up getting a PPI done. I just want to be able to check things that would be obvious to a non-mechanic before I waste time/money on a PPI.

The search for a white 996 C2 continues...

That is a nice one, but I'm looking for 2002+ models.

I bought the buyers guide online from www.911secrets.com
when I bought my C4S, I was lucky to get away without a PPI.

PM me, I'll share.....

Check it for flood damage, see how many times it's gone into Rev 2, that's pretty important.
