Question What kind of gas mileage does everyone get?

I have had my 996 now for just over a month now and I am curious what kind of gas mileage other drivers are getting in their NA 996s because mine seems to be kind of poor, I can literally almost watch the pointer in my gauge drop!!

If my mileage is below average performance, what are some things i can do to improve it?? (air filters/spark plugs etc?)

Kev, everyone is gonna get different mileage based on how you drive. You're also gonna be a couple of miles less because you have AWD. There's really not much you can do outside of what you mentioned combined with taking it a bit easier, but we all know you can't do that! FWIW

yea.. i actually just looked up the average mpg stats on msn and it looks like im right there at average (16 for city) or slightly better. I wasnt expecting great fuel economy but it still caught me off guard after coming from an AWD A4.

oh well...

and look out if you change the ECU - the computer just throws gobs of fuel into the chambers..... I'm getting 12 mpg. I drive with the RPM always above 4k rpm so my torque is available if I need it. And in SoCal, gas costs have gotten to the point where I am almost considering slowing down.......

Cool MPG

I average 21.5 mpg around town on a tank of gas.
That includes the work commute of 5 miles, and spirited drives to weekend dinners.
Last weekend I drove 145 miles to Sebring and averaged 30 mpg at 75 mph.
On the track I averaged 7 mpg.

Not sure what my average is...But I know it is horrible! I think it has to do with taking her to redline in every gear everywhere I go... (j/k) Since I have been driving my car daily more and more often there is plenty of good opportunities between Laguna and Costa Mesa to wind her up good. Thus my MPG sucks... I love to run through the gears... THANK GOD FOR MY V1...

15 to 17 average, mostly city driving.

Mid single digit at the track.

Best highway mileage of mid 20's.

21 mpg with both city and highway miles. Each time, I usually use a quarter tank, unless I am taking it through Malibu.
