Help! Key won't open door!
Daytrader...you are VERY LUCKY. The car only stays "good" for about a week...maybe a week and a half. The alarm will def go into SLEEP mode and you have to use the key or pop the trunk.
As for my sitch...I did learn the hardway. Since buying a beater as a DD my baby has been sitting in my spot. I was still driving her every 3 days or so etc. But just like everyone else I was busy for a week or so...and the car sat un touched for about 10 days. Walked up no remote nothing. I stuck the key in the door nothing. I knew I was screwed. BUT...luckily when I installed my air horns, I had my installed EXTEND the remote emergency pull to my trunk. So we tucked it under the bumper cover behind the frame etc. So...I did just that. Stuck my fat fingers behind there found it and POP. The trunk was open but the alarm was going off and was LOUD in my garage. I had to open the battery cover and undo the battery...all the while the horn is honking like crazy. I had to remove the battery terminal...wait for a minute or so...and then replace the battery and the remote worked again. Started her up....and that was that.
As for leaving my car unarmed...I have done that a few times because currently I am "freelancing" which is a nice way to say I am unemployed right now. So I am home much of the day etc...so I know my car is safe under ground. But when I start working and gone, I will arm her because I have the Porsche Battery Tender now....so I can plug her in and arm her so no more worries!

I got the hood open..whewww that wasn't fun. I disconnected the battery, how long should I wait before reconnecting? When I disconnected it, I waited about a minute, whenever I reattach, the alarm continues to go off. I tried about 5 minutes later and it continued to alarm. Security happened to catch me just as I popped the hood, so I will try again in the morning.
Thanks!
after you open the hood and the alarm goes off, disconnect the alarm horn on the drivers side of the battery- the alarm system will still be active and light will flash, but wont make the awful attention getting noise.
So this morning I disconnected the air horn. I plugged the battery back in and I still couldn't get in. I called Rector on my way to work and my service guy told me to try lifting the handle as I turned the key. When I got home that didn't physicall open the door, but low and behold I was able to unlock the doors with the remote. So i'm in. So the bizarre thing is, the key still DOES not open the door physically, so i'll definitely take the car into service to check that out. Thanks everyone for your help!
