To each their own. I think most people that use the internal model designations do so because it is a useful way of describing the specific car that you are referring to - just like finding the appropriate subforum (996) on this website. It's really not so much for reaffirming my sense of superiority so much as being a shorthand way of finding parts or finding/sharing appropriate tech info. I've also wanted one of these since elementary school and love it, there's just a distinct group of primarily aircooled guys that don't. Now you and I may not agree with them but we can't deny their existence.

Now if I could only find a suitable T5 roadster...

(of course I could have typed 1960-62 356 B type roadster instead)
