I think so! I bought mine for $200 from Bobby at Foreign Affairs, also a board sponsor, and I couln't be happier with the results. As for install in New Jerey, I'm not too sure.
Good Luck and congrats on the C4S!

Definitely do it yourself. Very few tools needed. It will take you about 2-2.5 hours and it's well worth it.

Easy DIY. I've done two installs. Last one took me an hour. Be sure to mark the cables where they sit in the plastic connectors. Initially, the shifting effort is much greater than stock. After a year, my shifter has loosened up and it's really easy to shift, albiet, much shorter throws.

Our local group has put in about 20 shift kits. We made a DVD of the installs on two Boxsters and two 996s. Last week we put in the kit on Santi's 2003 C4S. No video of this install as it would be a repeat. You can do it this yourself with the instructions that come in the kit. EXCEPT the instructions do not tell you to mark the cable locations. On the DVD we show 3 different ways mark their location. Jeff
