CPO Buying Checklist

Hello! Joined the site a while ago, but this is my first post. I'm buying a certified pre-owned 2003 C4 CAB next week. My first question, and this is a real basic one! Is there a checklist of items I should make sure I get from the dealer? Basic things like how many keys, etc, etc.

My second question is has anyone been able to get a porsche extended warranty beyond the 2 year CPO coverage? The car has about 34K on it already, and I plan to drive it daily. I know many of you might frown on buying this car as a daily driver, but this is a choice I've made already for better or worse. Cheers!

There is a list on the Porsche website that lists everything they check in CPO certification. Print it out, and do a visual check yourself. I bought a CPO car with bald tires. I didnt even look until a week later I had a flat...took it to a tire shop and they said, we cant patch it because the tires are bald on the inside...well back to the dealer and new Pirellis were put on for free...but it showed me that they didnt exactly check EVERYTHING.....No way to get past the CPO warranty...You can buy a policy with a 3rd party depending on the mileage...I drove my C4 Cab until it had 145,000 miles on it...Bought it under CPO...almost everything will get sorted out under warranty....after that I paid for a water pump, and a fuel pump...thats it....great cars for a daily driver in my experience.

Thank you for the response. I have inspected the car myself. There are no major visual flaws, but the rear tires have a few spots where the tread is a little on the thin side but only towards the outer wall of the tire. He is saying regardless they should have a good 10K miles left on them, but I have my doubts. The dealer will not be my 'local' service location so I'm a little leary.

While test-driving the check-engine and oil warning lights were on, so I'm not sure about the servicing status too, but he assured me that will be resolved. Otherwise the car drove very nicely.

I have purchased 2 CPO Porsches. The biggest problem that I had was tires. You will only get 10K miles out of a set of new rear tires. If you are seeing wear spots, they are worn. Have them include a new set - or reduce the price of the car by $1K - cause that's about what a rear set will cost you.

Thanks for the advice DaveMo. I sealed the deal this morning. New rear tires and they will be performing the 30K service prior to delivery on Saturday.

Picked up my 03 C4 CAB from Manhattan Motorcars today. No pics as yet, sorry! The bad news is it threw a CEL less than 10 miles from the dealer, but not much I can do about that on a Saturday. So brought it home and will deal with that on Monday. Car is running great, so I'm hoping it's something minor. They put all new tires on which was part of the deal. Cheers,
M
