Yearly Maint. on 50K/mile + 996's

Hello everyone,

I'm sure this has been covered, but any forum provides somewhat different replies for similar questions.

I am curious how much you guys spend on maintenance a year for your 996's that have over 50K miles. So far, I gather about $3,000/yr... Close to what you guys spend?

Thanks for any replies...

Not really! I own mine for almost 2 years. A little over $1600.

I've had mine for 2 years, and the only thing I've needed to do is the routine maintenance (oil change, filter, etc)

However, i think I may need to replace my xenon bulbs as I just started experiencing some flickering before it completely turns on. Not sure how much the actual bulbs cost.

Not to hijack, but does anyone have a similar experience?

I think you should check your connections as they may have become loose over time. If that's not the case then I think if you google for "phillips d2s xenon", you can find them for less than $200.

Thanks Devin, I'll do so research and hopefully find a how-to to help check the connections.

"To be able to send PMs your post count must be 15 or greater."

I guess all these rules make this a friendly board! Once I hit 15 I'll PM you my address, unless you would like to gives yours out publicly - Thanks

I assume everyone one who purchased these cars with around 50K miles went for the 60K mile service? What exactly does that entail, and what did you pay?

Thanks,

With regards to the 60k service, i think there is an existing thread about what it constitutes and rough pricing.

look forward to receiving a note.

I have just a tick over 55K on my 99. If I stop spending $$ on upgrades, I am nowhere near $3K/yr in maint. If I add in the fuel I use for 7 months, I might be just a tick under $2K

I would venture to guess that I spend right around $7-800/yr on maint which includes an oil change with filter after every track event.

I did however, over this winter, complete the 60K service (in my garage) which ran me just under $300 in parts. But I won't have to do this every year...in another 10 years I may have to do the 120K service.

Holy moly that's a lot...at most $150 if you do the oil change yourself. It really depends on how much you drive...tires might be a factor once a year...maybe. I've never put out more than that.
