Bought the SmartTop & RemoteTop from the recent group buy. Installation was a breazy. Best bangs for the bucks!

Now my cab is so nice to operate with one touch indash or remote key top up & down. Other features are great too.

1. One touch remote to lock car with single horn chirp. No more wonder if my car alarm is on or off.

2. Driving less than 20 mph and still able to open or close the top without stopping and pull the handbrake.

3. Automatic door lock when vehicle rolling and unlock when ignition turn off or remove key from ignition.

4. Motion sensor works with top down. Windows operate independently from top with remote key soft touch.

I'm ready for summer fun.

btw #3 is an option that can be set in the factory system. I had this enabled on my pcar by the dealer.

 

What year is your car? Are those features only for 2002 and above, like #1 (chirp), #3 & 4? Actually I will get the chirp if I forgot to close center console bin or the doors when locking the car which is normal according to the manual. From what I have seen from the manufacturer website, the main features are the 1-button operation of the top even when driving at less than 25mph and also the 2 rear windows control with the top down, right? Thanks.

 

I have had smarttop on cars in the past. If you could only have one, which would you do- smart or remote top- and why?

 

I opted to NOT get the remotetop (just kept the smarttop). Reason, I did not want to operate the top with the car off (battery strain). I don't leave the car with the top down, so no need to have the motion sensor with the top down option either. And lastly, there have been reported problems with the remotetop. I do like the smarttop though.

 

Mine is an 02. No, 99-04 996 Cab can have these features. The alarm chirp is an extra option with RemoteTop. #3 is motion sensor while the top is down. #4 is auto lock with car is moving and unlock if key out ignition or ignition off. This feature can be activate if you bring your car to a dealer.

SmartTop is one touch comfort top up or down with car park or moving at less than 25 mph.

RemoteTop is remote key command. Top up or down with vehicle park and windows up or down option. Motion sensors with top down. Auto lock and unlock. Alarm chirp with on or off.

 

i have the chirp but that's b.c the stereo was placed in and something happend....i like it though

 

I have both modules as well. I would highly recommend this upgrade to any Cab owner. This should have been the standard setup from the Porsche factory.
