Just spoke to Bilstein about 996 Cabs and PSS9...
According to Shane at Bilstein Customer support west coast. THEY ARE NO ISSUES WITH THE PSS9 AND 996 CABRIOLETS IN ANY OF THEIR DOCUMENTATION. Nor does it say that they should not sell PSS9's to owners of 996 Cabs. He actually said to me that it's a smooth ride and works wonderfully.
I guess the east coast and west coast need to chat. Scott over at the eastern division says differently. He didn't say it was from a tech bulletin put out by Bilstein, but more experience with problems he has personally been dealing with. Why don't you call Scott over on the East Coast Bilstein just for the hell of it. Even if you don't believe it, aren't you the least bit curious? Sounded like he had a lot of first hand experience.
I have had the PSS9's on my 03 cab for about a year and have had no problems what so ever...
Contact Arling at Lucent Motors, they have had great experience with this set-up from Bilstein.

DD95...I was curious so I called. But I find it funny that NO ONE but this guy has this opinion. Even Bilstein's own tech logs say nothing like this. I am not saying this guy does not know what he is talking about, but here is my take on things. The PSS9 is a stiffer suspension. The Cabriolets in general are more susceptable to body flex. The 996's have been braced for this to provide a stiffer chassis. MAYBE, just maybe, on the stiffest settings on a track, for prolonged periods, there may be issues with body flex. But I don't plan on being on a track for prolonged periods, I mean like 24 hours straight, in my 996 cab. In my personal quest to get to the bottom of this, I am more convinced that there is no issue at all with this than before. Hey Arling, can you get me in this week for my intsall?
Newport996,
This topic was posted on one of the other boards also. I was thinking that this was a personal opinion and not based upon manufacturers recommendations. And you have confirmed that. I have the X74's on my C4 Cab and have no issues at all. I think that you will be quite satisfied with the PSS9's.

Don't shoot the messenger
This was a bilstein rep that provided that info and he did have personal knowledge of problems with cabs and the PSS's. Just passing it along. You probably won't have any problems. As far as the x74. Apples and Oranges. As I said earlier, the Bilstein rep didn't have a problem with other suspensions and the cab...just the PSS springs and the cab were a bad mix according to him.
It's definatley a killer setup. Best of luck with it. I'm sure you'll be okay with just street driving.
Did you ask him about import PSS vs. the US version?
