996 suspension mod help
I have a 99 C2 whose suspension I'd like to modify. Lowering would be an added bonus. Don't want to spend PSS9 money however.

wait till you can get coilovers, springs$300 installation and alignment $500. $850 bucks for something you will need to do over eventually. i do not recommend just a spring swap. a huge difference in performance over a coilover. if you do just do the springs, you will need anti sway bars as well. just my opinion.
ROW M030 isn't just springs, it's springs, dampers and swaybars. It's a balanced system tuned by Porsche.
The benefit you get from an adjustable coilover like the PSS9 is height and damping adjustability.

It all depends what your trying to achieve.. I think one problem here is that most of the guys that have PSS9's or H&R Coilovers will of course recommend them. But until someone says I drove a car that had Sport Shocks with lowering springs and then I jumped in a car with PSS9's and can see a day and night difference.... then I will believe them... Mostly we all have opinions based on some personal experience.. so take all of the so called facts and make your own decision. Sometimes you get what you pay for and sometimes its overkill for what is trying to be accomplished. From my investigating lowering springs are about $300 and Bilstein Sport shocks are about $700.. If your going for a lower look and a slightly better ride I would go this route. Install and alignment shouldn't cost more then $500-$600 Now if you track the car often and your looking for the best handling suspension then I would certainly save and spend the extra $800-$1k on PSS9's.. this of course is just my $.02, I have yet to modify the suspension on my 996. although I have had a set of Gemballa springs sitting in my garage for the last year

Kevin M. : You've nailed my dilemma on the head. I want the car lowered a bit. My driving will mostly be spirited street drives. I have yet to decide about trackdays. I do those on my bike, so I know that they are hard on the machine...Soooo, I'm leaning towards a MATCHED shock and spring kit. Will I need aftermarket sway bars as well?
I have the M030 sport suspension on my C4. car is 3/4" lower on front and 1/2-5/8" on the rear. rides better than stock set up. Got them from Gert @ Carnewall.. set up came w/ f/r sway bays.
took it to the track last weekend;slight improvement over stock on cornering. overall, I am happy w/ it. If i was to push the car harder or do more than 3 tack event per year, I probably go w/ the PSS9.
